About the Atelier
Principal: Esumi Toshinori. From a 300-year-old farmhouse at 2571 Shimo-Shingu, Koshi-cho, Izumo (the Izumo Koshi Kominka School), the practice designs in timber — houses, kominka restoration, commercial, civic, welfare and cultural-property work — and keeps its roots in the community.

Profile
プロフィールAfter graduating in architecture from Kogakuin University in 1982, he worked in Tokyo design offices and at Esumi Architects before re-founding the practice as Esumi Atelier in 2007. He has taught as a part-time lecturer at the University of Shimane Junior College, the National Institute of Technology, Yonago College, and Shimane University — design and teaching as two wheels of one practice in timber.

Internship & Hiring
インターン・求人Interns live in the 300-year-old farmhouse and learn timber architecture through model-making, site visits and design support. The atelier is 4.5 km from JR Izumo-shi Station, in the village of Koshi, and works from the Izumo Koshi Kominka School.
Staff wanted
Esumi Atelier is hiring design staff. We welcome curious, motivated people who want to become experts in timber architecture. Practical experience is an advantage.
